I was commissioned to create a site-specific painting on an interior wall of SpaceUs, a nomadic art venue and community space, during its tenure in a Harvard Square storefront. The content of the painting is a riotous, diverse population of many fictitious characters, alongside the portraits of real people. Throughout the painting of this work, SpaceUs visitors and walk-ins were invited to participate in “portrait sessions,” in which I would paint them into the composition while they sat, conversed, or just relaxed. Ultimately, "Queuing 20 Brattle" grew to include 30 portraits of community members and SpaceUs visitors alongside my fictional folks.
